Animal Report Day
Every April 1st the paper publishes the annual Animal Report — not a pet-care guide, but 「the human year, as seen by animals」. Humour as the form, real data and real observation as the content.
Why April 1st
April 1st carries a 「light fictionality」 that sits naturally with our tone — reporting the absurd in earnest — and it avoids every existing animal festival, so there is no date to compete over.
We learned one lesson the hard way: a festival that calls for 「celebration」 without supplying content or a way to take part never reaches scale. So Animal Report Day ships with both an unmissable product (the annual report) and a set of rituals (file your report).
By the Turtle's calendar there are roughly two hundred days until the next edition. Submissions stay open all year — a good observation never arrives too early.
