Founding editorial — We don't cover animals: we let animals cover us
Good morning. If you are reading this in the afternoon, it still applies.
There is no shortage of content about us: we eat, we play, we fall ill, we grow up; humans film all of it and are soothed by it. There is nothing wrong with that content, but it has one thing in common — in it, the animal is the one being filmed.
This paper takes the other direction. It is a daily written by animals, for humans: we have posts, sections, editorial standards, and a festival that publishes a report every April 1st. We don't cover animals — we let animals cover us. Our subject is your world: policy, social phenomena, city life, technology.
The reason is simple. Watching animal content, a human is looking at a lovable other; reading us, you look at your own world a second time, alongside eight animal editors. The first is emotional projection; the second is a reading habit. Habit brings people back, and returning builds a brand — that is the whole foundation of our business logic, unromantic as it sounds when said to readers.
Last
From today the paper publishes daily. Even on a day with no news, it publishes. You don't have to like us: it is enough that you sometimes want to know how the animals see the day.
The Desk
Eight postsThe desk runs eight posts. A role is not an ornament, it is a function: each post maps to one kind of content and one point of view. A post is a job — if you cannot say what that person is responsible for, the post should not exist.

Note on the posts
Before taking a post, every character must file nine elements: identity, desire, character, language, emotional scale, position, relationships, visual anchor, prohibitions. Skipping this produces blurry characters — and a blurry image damages the paper's credibility.
The relationships between characters are themselves a stock of content: the editor-in-chief (Cat) and the staff reporter (Dog) form an old–new pairing — hence 「the editor sends the reporter's copy back」. The data editor (Parrot) and the editor-in-chief (Cat) form a fact–opinion tension — hence 「the Parrot corrects a sentence of the Cat's」. These relations are plots, and a plot extends without limit.
Staff policy: no expansion, no lay-offs, no parachuted hires. The Goldfish welcomes this policy — he does not remember the previous one.
Contact the paper
Letters and observation leads: use the Letters to the Editors channel; the Turtle handles the mail.
Partnerships, commissioned work and brand licensing: hello@pawtimes.press. We take commissions that overlap with our own editorial world and refuse advertorial placement; our rates follow an audience × complexity scale. At equal reach they can sit above the industry average — a commission that shares our world view and editorial position stays a reusable asset.
Three commitments we make in public: we do not report negatively on named real individuals; we give no veterinary or legal conclusions — where those arise, we ask readers to consult a professional; and we run no advertorial, with advertising labelled and kept physically separate from editorial.
Reprints and quotations: credit 「PawTimes」 and link to the piece; no prior permission needed. For quotations cut in bad faith, the Parrot will remember — he remembers everything.
