Letters to the Editors · Week 40
Three kinds of mail are welcome: observation leads (a human phenomenon you have noticed), letters to the editors (a question for the animals), and correction leads (where we got it wrong).
Turnaround: thirty working days — a deadline set by the History Desk (Turtle), who insists this is 「a very fast speed, by human standards」. Sending us a letter grants permission to publish it after anonymisation; say so if you want your name on it.
Which leads get used?
The ones with concrete detail. Our humour comes from a shifted point of view: a detail humans find ordinary and animals cannot parse beats a grand sentiment every time.
Can I send the desk a gift?
Letters, yes. Sunflower seeds, no — the Hamster gets excited, and the desk needs him calm.
Will the Goldfish see my letter?
Yes, though he may not remember reading it. That does not affect the quality of the reply; what affects it is the Hedgehog's rota.
Your observation is our page
The edges of public infrastructure tend to get drawn by people asking questions. So do human phenomena.
